Other Treatments Worth a Look

Alternative and non-drug therapies are gaining acceptance by patients and health care providers for good reason: many can provide effective relief at lower cost and with few, if any, adverse side effects. But not everything that’s touted as a miracle treatment is worthwhile. Some that have shown promise include:

Yoga as treatment for Pain

Yoga

Some cultures have used yoga as a basic element of wellness for thousands of years. Recently, yoga has been studied for its pain-alleviating benefits, with very encouraging results. Yoga works on physical, mental and emotional levels, so all aspects of pain can be impacted. The discipline and concentration alone can have a positive impact, just as with meditation and focusing.

Hydrotherapy and massage Therapy as treatment for Pain

Hydrotherapy and Massage Therapy

These techniques help ease stress, eliminate toxins, improve circulation, and promote relaxation – all of which can reduce pain. Alternating pressure and release techniques can provide almost instant relief for certain types of pain, and the overall pleasant experience can have long-lasting effects.
